Rarely, as mentioned earlier, do I get to go out with a friend who could accompany me around the city in the mornings. When I do, I would end up eating with her or with him somewhere. One of my favorite spots to have tea and some sweets is at the Vienna Marriott Hotel. So what’s with all the walking and sweating when you are bound to gain a few more pounds after enjoying a slice of heavenly cheesecake? I believe, it’s the time spent that matters.
Small servings of ice cream could be convenient and actually helpful if one is on a diet…heck, what diet when the ice cream we’re talking about is derived from our favorite chocolates. Unfortunately, no bigger ice cream tubs are available in our region for toblerone, oreo and other such ice cream variations.
These flavors are now easy to concoct at home but if like me you are always on the go, tubs are more convenient.
McDonald’s has also incorported their menus with such…for instance Mcflurry snickers, Mcflurry Twix and McfLurry Mars can now be enjoyed. I’m not sure where but, come to Vienna and I’ll certainly buy you a cup. 😉
Can’t resist sweets no matter how much I stay away. 🙂 Want some?
Guess where I got this slice? You won’t believe it’s from McCafe. 😉 We live near one and whenever I crave for something sweet I just walk my way there or take the bus — two stops. I prefer walking though especially because I know I would need to burn the calories I’d be gaining when I get there. teehee.
This cheesecake as all others (plain and caramel cheesecake) served at McCafes is distinctly German, melt in your mouth not-so-sweet goodness. I pair this with my favorite Chai Latte and I’m one happy kid!
We had another Magnum-filled afternoon…I suddenly remembered how we often buy a box of Magnum or Cornetto in the summers especially when mom-in-law is around…My favorite was not magnum on a stick but rather vanilla ice cream with caramel sauce, covered in milk chocolate with peanuts and wheat crispies- Magnum Caramel and Nuts….haven’t had some for years now.
So we saw this box at Billa, a store near the kids’ school and bought it, son1 was very persuading. He said it’s spring so we can finally have ice cream as a form of celebration (lol). There were a variety to choose from but we chose these minis as they’d like to try pistachio. I was curious with gianduia (gianduja) so I went with it.
Turns out it was a good decision after all. Gianduia is a sweet chocolate containing about 30% hazelnut paste, invented in Turin. Turns out it is the same as Nutella, which was formerly called Pasta Gianduja!
Although Nutella tends to be too sweet, this magnum mini is just right, swirls of Nutella in vanilla ice cream coated with chocolate. I can’t say the same for pistachio though, its taste reminded me of pandan which doesn’t go well with chocolate. I guess a gelato for pistachio is always better.
I’m just borrowing the lines from one of my favorite blogs. 🙂 Partly influenced, the kids and I enjoy eating our desserts first whenever we eat out….wherever. These two are McDonald’s mini Sundae cup with smarties for C and below is Apple Pie covered with vanilla sauce and served with 2 scoops of sundae. Mahlzeit!
Winter won’t stop the kids from having their fix of ice cream. We got some lemon, straciatella and chocolate from a Gelato corner shop in the nearest mall from our place one Sunday afternoon. It’s quite warm in the mall anyway and we need some quick energy to spend while going about the shops.
I got three happy kids that day!
